Man Admits to Rash of Break-Ins

Authorities say a Chillicothe man admitted to a string of church break-ins that have taken place in Ross County over the past few months. Sheriff George Lavender said 26-year-old Cash M. Yoakem and his wife Heather Garrett-Yoakem were arrested on January 25th for the breaking and entering of a car wash in Laurelville.

Two days prior, a church and car wash in Kingston had been broken into, with details of the car wash break-ins matching, according to the Sheriff

Sheriff Lavender said Yoakem confessed to 41 break-ins, 25 of which were churches, he had committed in Ross County.

Sheriff Lavender said televisions and money were items mostly targeted, and investigators are working with pawn shops and cash advance stores to recover stolen goods.

Yoakem and his wife were arrested and incarcerated at the Southeast Regional Jail, said Sheriff Lavender.

Sheriff Lavender said the investigation is ongoing and other suspects will likely face charges.

The Chillicothe Police Department has charged Yoakem with 19 counts of breaking and entering.
