National Distracted Driving Month

National Distracted Driving Month

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Ross County Health District is wanting to get the word out on the dangers of texting while driving.

Rami Yoakum says unfortunately, it's hard to police, so it needs to fall back on the community and individuals to step up and do the right thing.

Government statistics show that a quarter of teens admit to replying to text messages every time they drive, and Nation-wide, 3,328 people were killed and over 421,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver.

Katelyn Crabtree with the Health District's Safe Communities says they will be going into the area high schools in April to tell teens about the dangers of distracted driving, especially texting while driving.
