Project School Tools helped 895 children from 293 families get ready for school last year. To reach even more families this year, United Way of Ross County and Ross County Community Action are again sponsoring the "Stuff the Bus" donation drive on Saturday, August 9, at Walmart.
From 11am to 2pm, a small yellow school bus will be parked at the store. Shoppers can accept a list of needed school supplies as they enter the store. As they leave, volunteers will assist them in stuffing the school bus with their donations. Others who are not shopping are invited to bring donations to the site. Monetary contributions and checks payable to Love, INC also will be accepted.
The school supplies for children in kindergarten through grade 12 will be distributed Tuesday, August 12, 10 am to 3 pm, at The Salvation Army. To qualify, children must be accompanied by an adult who can show proof of need, such as a medical card, for each child. The responsible adult must also provide a photo ID and proof of Ross County residence.
Along with school supplies, children will receive free haircuts and enjoy a variety of games, activities, food and entertainment provided by community sponsors, partners and volunteers. For a complete list of supplies log on to our website story.
