Chillicothe Paints manager Greg Cypret has been named the skipper of the East Division for the Prospect League's mid-summer classic, coming up on July 8 in Terre Haute, IN. Cypret has guided the Paints to first place in the East Division so far in the first half, and will be across the field from Terre Haute's first-year manager Bobby Segal.
The Paints will be well represented at the Prospect League's mid-summer classic, with six players on the East Division roster, including four starters.
First baseman T.J. Diffenderfer (.313 BA, 9 2B, 3 HR, 13 RBIs), second baseman Kurt Hoekstra (.345, 14 RBIs, 17 runs), and center fielder Zach Jacobs (.270, 15 RBIs) will start in the field for the East, and left-handed pitcher Travis Lakins (4-0, 2.00 ERA, 1 BB in 27 innings) will take the mound as the starter for the ceremonial game.
Also for the Paints, outfielder Ronnie Dawson (.308, 6 HR, 24 RBIs) made the All-Star team as a reserve, along with closer Trace Dempsey (0.96 ERA in seven games, 4 saves, 14 Ks in 9.1 innings).
Along with the players, the East Division team will be managed by Paints skipper Greg Cypret, who guided the Paints to a first-half championship and a guaranteed berth in this year's postseason.
The All-Star Game will be played in Terre Haute, Ind., on July 8.
