The Paint Valley Bearcats could not overcome a big rebounding performance by Leesburg Fairfield in the Lions 61-51 Division 4 District title win Saturday.
While Fairfield held a slim 36-31 rebounding advantage, 21 offensive rebounds translated into too many put-back scoring tries.
For Paint Valley, their leading scorer was Clay Stratton with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony McFadden had 15 points, and Mason McCoy had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Leesburg Fairfield Lions had five players in double figures. Leaders Joey Wilson had 13 points and 20 rebounds, and Ryan Bates had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Shooting from the field, Leesburg Fairfield was 22 of 57 for 39%. Paint Valley was 18 of 45 for 40%. At the foul line, Fairfield was 14 of 27 for 52%, and Paint Valley was 13 of 15 for 87%.
Overall, Paint Valley finishes at (10-15) in this Division 4 District Championship game - the first time a Paint Valley boys basketball team has advanced to district since 1984.
